Marcos' arm....

This is called the sugar cane splint. When the orthopedic took it off and left the room, Marcos put it back on. He started tearing up. He said," I don't want to throw it away. I like it! " After I told him he could keep it, the tears stopped but he refused to take it off!

He picked blue! He says his muscles look big in it! (notice the cool spider web on the elbow! Gangsta)

The story of Marcos' arm......

Most of you know it, but for those of you who do not, enjoy.

The day after Christmas we drove from Riverside. What was suppose to be a short 3 hour drive, was a 5 hour drive. When we reached state line, I got a call that my mom was having the "all boy cousin sleep over" that night. Marcos was so excited! We drove to Mindy's house got all the boys and dropped them off at Grandma's.

The next day I got a call from my mom, saying that Marcos had fallen and needed to talk to me. He was crying and was hurt. He had fallen off of a Teeder Totter that Kobie and Kavin had made a couple of weeks prior. He said that his arm hurt soooo bad. (He is always drama, but he was doing the " I am really hurt cry". So we met my mom at the Burger King on Rancho. Marc was looking homeless! I had put a pair of his old Pajama bottoms on under his pants to keep his legs warm. They looked more like kapri's . He had been playing outside in the dirt, so the white shirt he had on was now brown and blue from what ever he had eaten and now sucked onto his shirt sleeve! Dirt on his face... let's just say it looked like I found him on Rancho homeless!!!

I went straight to the UMC urgent care on Rancho and Craig. Marcos asked what they were going to do too him. I told him they were only going to take pictures of his arm. He said oh.. I thought they had too operate! They took us back in 5 minutes. That was really nice. They took x- rays of his elbow and upper arm. The doctor told me before x-rays that he thought it might just be nurse maids elbow. So, after x-rays the doctor came in and said that it doesn't appear to be anything wrong, and that he wants to see if maybe the elbow is out of socket. He has Marcos try to pop it back in. Marcos cried until he fell asleep. I asked again, are you sure there is nothing in the x-ray? He says No... The doctor asked if he wanted medicine. I said yes. It never came, so I just had them discharge us! We were almost back to Mindy's and the dumb doctor calls me on my phone. He said that we needed to come back and get a splint and sling... the x-ray tech said that there was a fracture! I was mad! We get back, and he puts us in a room. Marcos woke up crying again. I walked out and asked the Dr. for medicine. He said he would bring it right in. 5 min. goes by...no medicine. I walk out and he is still sitting on his a@#!! This time I had to yell at him. I told him... we have been here long enough! We would like the medicine now! We got it way quicker that way! I think I would trust somebody who has never studied the human body, before one of the doctors at the urgent care! He looked like a deer in head lights when Marcos would let out a scream!!!
We got back home Tuesday and Weds. he had a appointment with our regular doctor, who wanted to see how many co-pays she could milk us for. She said it's really swollen still, so I would like to see him back on Monday. Friday night we went to the store and he fell out of the truck, when he was trying to get into his carseat. He fell backwards and onto his arm again! Co-pay # 2. Yep... it's still swollen, I will send the referral to the orthopedic today, and you will need more x rays. So after he got out of school, we went and got more x-rays... I couldn't go in the x-ray room because of Isaiah. So when we took our new x-ray to the orthopedic, he said he couldn't really tell, because THEY DIDN'T TAKE OFF THE SPLINT!! ARE THEY DUMB???
So poor Marcos had to get more x-rays. All that radiation, no wonder he was glowing when I walked into his room!;) It only took 12 days to get the cast, but he got it and he thinks it is cool!

What a fiasco! That is so scary to think a doctor would behave like that and allow your poor baby to be in so much pain. I'm glad he has a happier face, now. My sister drove from Huntington Beach to St. George on the Saturday after Christmas--it took almost 9 hours!

It looks like you should take better care of your kid. We never let our fragile son go over to boys cousin night, it is just too dangerous now that Mindys kids are getting bigger (I hear they are possibly in a gang) Jake stays home and does flash cards and practices writing on those nights.

Poor boy! I didn't know he ended up with a cast! What a mess! How long does he need it for?

He has to have it for 2 weeks. The doctor said that he would count the time that he had to wear the slint to the time in the cast. Not to bad! He has been really good about it!

Carol... I wish I could tell you that I was surprised as well.... but It was UMC quick care, and I have yet to have a good experience there!lol
